ICLAM Conference Flags

ICLAM Conferences are held regularly every three years.

The ICLAM Conference in 1958 in Scheveningen (The Hague, Netherlands) was the first conference with a flag. The 1958 flag is thus the oldest flag in the collection. In 1989 the Organzing Committee of the conference in The Hague decided to organize a parade with all flags of the previous conferences. For the conferences of 1935, 1939, 1949, 1952 and 1955 flags were specially made for the occassion. Since then, all flags are shown during the caonference.

Because of the gradual detoriation of the flags and the rising costs of the (intercontinental) transports, the ICLAM Bureau decided in 2011 that photographs of the flags should be taken and the flags should be stored in the ICLAM Archives in Zürich, Switzerland. The pictures were taken in 2012 by Begoña Salcedo Bustamante (Artvanguardia Art Research New Trends SL).
